The Tights Edit

Whether wrapping up warm for the winter months or simply wishing to make a leggy statement as you head off to work/lectures/school, tights can be a fantastic asset to any wardrobe.

A similar pair to Annie’s autumnal H&M tights can be found at Next.

While British Vogue’s fashion news editor Julia Hobbs claims that “opaque black tights make even brilliant dresses boring” and “sheer skin-tone tights should be banned”, we’d like to persuade you that these seemingly insignificant little items of hosiery, in a kaleidoscope of colours from grey to firey red, are going to transform your 2017. Here’s why, and HOW to wear them.

Find Bella’s Topshop tights here.

Whilst everything looks great with bare legs in the summer, we have to accept that our summery tan is very much a thing of the past now that the wintery months of 2017 have begun. And since tights are super in this season (check out the pics below!) we decided to revisit our sock drawer to see what we could find…

Annie has paired her russet tights with a ZARA playsuit and a Pinko suede jacket, topped off with a faux fur scarf and maroon heels.

Bella wears a MANGO suede jacket, UO green corduroy mini skirt and check shirt, and heeled desert boots.img_6852

Whilst patterned tights may seem daunting, they can really jazz up a casual daytime look and transform your go-to black outfit into effortless chic.

Annie’s grey and black paisley tights were a purchase from a discount store in New York, but similar can be found by Gipsy.

A very similar pair to Bella’s floral tights can be found here – they’ll take you through the day and into the night.

Annie’s pink tights were a rogue sock drawer encounter… But find a similar pair (amongst a huge selection of other colours) here!

Annie twins her M&S green tights (which came in a handy pack of three!) with green suede Stefanel shoes.

Bella’s Emilio Cavellini tights are pictured here with Massimo Dutti brown suede boots.

To finish off the Tights Edit, Annie wears a black and white chequered pair by Falke (picked up in the sale for £9! Some similar houndstooth ones are also on sale at Emilio Cavellini), and Bella’s preppy chic look is topped off with a pair of diamond lace tights by Topshop.

We hope you have fun rifling through your (or your mum’s) sock drawer! Don’t be afraid of bright colours or patterns – at a time of year when our wardrobes are dominated by grey or black, tights are the perfect way to perk you up.
